FSA Board to recommend advice to Ministers on nutrient profiling model

At next week?s FSA Board meeting the Agency will make a recommendation to the Board on its nutrient profiling (NP) model. The NP model was developed to help media regulator Ofcom determine which foods would be allowed to be advertised during children?s TV.

Interlink Direct withdraws CQ Hotpot Seasoning products

Interlink Direct Ltd has withdrawn all of its batches of CQ Hotpot Seasoning Spicy and CQ Hotpot Seasoning Seafood sauces because the products contain peanut, which is not mentioned on the labels. These products are, therefore, a possible risk to people who are allergic to peanuts.

Damasgate Wholesale recalls sesame seed paste halva

Damasgate Wholesale has recalled some batches of Ayyam Zaman Halawa (sesame seed paste halva) due to the presence of salmonella. Salmonella is a bacterium that causes food poisoning. The Agency has issued a Food Alert for Information.

The Food Standards Agency has produced a leaflet for farmers, giving advice to help them protect their livestock, business and the UK?s food from lead poisoning. Cases of lead poisoning on farms increase in the spring when animals are turned out into the fields.

Active brand peanut butter contaminated with excess levels of aflatoxins

Active brand peanut butter has been found to be contaminated with excess levels of aflatoxins. The Agency has issued a Food Alert for Action advising local authorities that if any of these products are found during routine inspections, local authority food law enforcement officers should ensure the products are withdrawn from sale and destroyed.
