Waitrose recalls Oriental Supper For Two with Spring Rolls

Waitrose has recalled its Oriental Supper For Two with Spring Rolls, because it may contain fish, shellfish, milk and peanut, which are not mentioned on the product labelling. The makes the product a possible health risk for individuals who are allergic to fish, shellfish, milk and peanut. The Agency has issued an Allergy Alert.

Agency publishes 2012 salt reduction targets

The Agency has published revised salt reduction targets for 2012, for 80 categories of foods. The new voluntary targets are more challenging than previous targets, to make sure food retailers and manufacturers maintain the momentum in reducing salt levels. The revised targets also reflect the Agency?s long-term commitment to reducing people?s average salt intake to 6g a day.

Training opportunity in evidence gathering and interviewing skills

The Agency is pleased to announce a new training opportunity for local authority food law enforcement officers (both environmental health and trading standards officers). The two-day residential course is designed to help delegates enhance their investigative and interview skills in relation to food law enforcement.

New guide for food handlers published

People who work around open food while suffering from certain infections (mainly from bacteria and viruses) can contaminate the food or surfaces the food may come into contact with. The Agency has published revised ‘Food Handlers: Fitness to Work’ guidance to help prevent the spread of infection to other people through food.

Change to FSA advice on botulism in sheep and goats

A change to Food Standards Agency (FSA) advice will mean healthy animals from farms with cases of botulism in sheep or goats can enter the food chain.
