Asda has withdrawn some packs of its Chicken Chow Mein (300g) and Meal for One Chicken Chow Mein (400g) because the products contain traces of shellfish, which is not mentioned on the product labels. The products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to or intolerance of shellfish.

ASDA Prawn Coleslaw with a ‘best before’ date of 5 May 2010 has mistakenly been packed using a Garlic and Herb Coleslaw lid (300g). The presence of shellfish is not indicated on the Garlic and Herb Coleslaw lid, therefore the product is a potential health risk for people with an allergy to shellfish.

In January 2010 the Agency was informed by Norfolk County Council of its concerns relating to a request received by a Norfolk-based food-packing company for letters of invitation to inspectors from the Nigerian National Agency for Food and Drug Administration Control (NAFDAC).
