In January 2010 the Agency was informed by Norfolk County Council of its concerns relating to a request received by a Norfolk-based food-packing company for letters of invitation to inspectors from the Nigerian National Agency for Food and Drug Administration Control (NAFDAC).

Tesco has recalled some packs of its own-brand Flaked Pudding Rice because the product might contain wheat, which is not mentioned on the product label. This means this product is a possible health risk for anyone who is allergic to or intolerant of wheat or gluten. The Agency has issued an Allergy Alert.

New rules for fish labelling come into force today for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The Fish Labelling Regulations 2010 replace the previous Regulations, add new commercial designations (the names of fish) for species of fish that have recently come onto the market and give extra options for some others that were already listed.
